Grevillea rosmarinifolia x alpina ‘Bonnie Prince Charlie’
APPEARANCE: Fast-establishing native with a low neatly-spreading habit. Fine, slender foliage from its rosmarinifolia parent; and small scarlet and yellow cats-claw flowers from its alpina parent from spring to autumn.
ORIGIN :G rosmarinifolia is native to the inland areas of VIC and southern NSW; G alpina is found in VIC
USE FOR :  Container growing, wildlife gardens, long season of flower colour
CLIMATE: Plant in full sun for best flowering season. Prefers lower humidity and semi-arid climates, ideal for southern and western states. Supposedly frost hardy – test its cold-tolerance for yourself.
PLANTING: Needs free-draining soil for best results; parent species thrive in poor dry soils so avoid rich soils high in nutrients.
CARE: Water regularly during the first 8-12 weeks until the plant is established. Prune after flowering to promote flowering and dense growth habit. Feed with a slow release native fertiliser when buds form – grevilleas can be phosphorus-sensitive so the P ratio of the fertiliser needs to be under 3%
