Grevillea venusta x glossadenia ‘Orange Marmalade’
APPEARANCE : Unconventional-looking grevillea, a large shrub with long smooth-edged oval leaves and rounded deep orange looped flowers through the year, which stand upright.
ORIGIN :G venusta originates in central QLD, around Rockhampton; G glossadenia from further north in the Atherton tablelands of FNQ.
USE FOR : Honey-laden flowers are bird attracting; specimen planting and feature shrub; informal hedging; bush gardens.
CLIMATE: Doesn’t mind occasional dry spells although it flowers better with regular water; copes very well with humidity. Better in warm subtropical climates; protect from frost.
PLANTING : Well drained clay loams or sandy soil with a neutral to acid pH. Water well until established.
CARE : Cut gently back to height and shape as required, but not too much. Feed with a slow release native fertiliser when buds form – grevilleas can be phosphorus-sensitive so the P ratio of the fertiliser needs to be under 3%.
MATURE HEIGHT & WIDTH : 2-3m H x 2-3m W.
